The PGB becomes The SPGB: our new Winter Golf Super League

For the winter of 2026, we’ve combed the PGB Wednesday and Thursday leagues into one unified competition, the SPGB (Super PGB). It means one bigger field, one shared season, and one leader board that everyone feeds into.

The PGB has always been about keeping winter golf alive when the clocks go back and keeping golfers away from “temporary green” disappointment. The atmosphere has made it what it is: competitive golf in the sim, a bit of pressure, a huge amount of banter, a lot of laughs, and a reason to keep playing (and improving) right through the worst months of the year.

It also wouldn’t be the league without the personalities. If you’ve played before, you’ll know we don’t do “Ross from Chilwell” and “Ben, handicap 54”, everyone’s known by their nickname, it’s what goes on the board, what gets shouted across the bay, and what you’ll be called all season (whether you like it or not). It’s part of what makes league night feel like league night.

So why the change? Because the league has outgrown the split. Bringing Wednesday and Thursday together makes the whole indoor golf season feel bigger and more meaningful. You’ll still have your league night, but now the results roll into one Super League table, with more momentum week-to-week, more rivalry, and a clearer story as the season unfolds.

What’s important is what isn’t changing. SPGB is still the same Outtabounds league at heart: 7-hole strokeplay on league nights, with every shot tracked on the simulator so there’s nowhere to hide when someone(not to name any names) claims they “flushed it”. It’s still the winter escape for golfers who don’t want to pack it in until spring, just now it runs as one proper Super League.

And if you want to give yourself a proper chance of climbing that SPGB leader board, don’t just rely on turning up and “finding it on the night”. A little practice at home goes a long way in winter, especially if you’ve got a golf net setup for quick swing sessions when you can’t get to the course.

If you want to join the SPGB, drop us a message and we’ll send over the latest league details and availability: pgb@outtabounds.co.uk
