I’ve been curious about same-length irons for a while, especially as a Bryson fan and someone always looking to simplify the swing. Anything that reduces variables is appealing. Straight away, the Avoda irons felt natural at address. There was no adjustment period. It genuinely felt like I’d been using them for years, which is rare when testing something new.

The fitting ran for around 1 hour 15 minutes and was led by Avoda’s lead fitter, Harrison Ottley. The entire experience felt calm and well-paced. Fittings can sometimes feel like you’re being judged on every shot, but this was the opposite. Even when I wasn’t striking my own clubs well at the start, there was no pressure. By the end, I was completely sold on both the concept and the performance.

Feel and usability

Impact feel is a real highlight. The strike is soft yet solid, giving you clear feedback without feeling harsh. There’s a strong sense of control through the ball, which builds confidence quickly.

Where these irons really stand out is in how simple they make the setup. With every club built to the same length, ball position and posture stay consistent throughout the set. That removes a lot of the guesswork and helps you build a more repeatable swing pattern over time.

A common miss for many golfers is the low, left pull. With the Avoda setup, particularly paired with the JumboMax grips, this was noticeably reduced. The club felt more stable through the hitting zone, which helped keep the face more controlled at impact.

By the end of the session, performance had improved significantly compared to the start. That progression within a single fitting session says a lot about how quickly you can adapt to the concept.

The Fitting

The fitting process itself was exceptional. Harrison’s knowledge was clear throughout, and it was easy to see why he is Avoda’s lead fitter. Every adjustment was explained, and nothing felt rushed.

My final setup included irons bent 1 degree flat, a full set of wedges and KBS TGI 90 shafts paired with standard oversized JumboMax grips. The wedges in particular stand out visually and complete the set perfectly.

Indoors provided the ideal environment, combining launch monitor data with a relaxed, real-world feel. It allowed for proper testing without the pressure that often comes with fittings.

One thing that stood out on the day was how straightforward the buying process felt. There was no hard sell, just a clear conversation around the build and options. I even managed to negotiate a small 5% discount, which felt like a fair result given the level of service and quality of the product.

Lead times were another pleasant surprise. Having previously waited six weeks or more when ordering through larger golf retailers, I was expecting something similar. Instead, the turnaround quoted was noticeably quicker, even with Avoda being busy. It added to the overall impression of a well-run operation that values both performance and customer experience.
