It's not outdoors
The game of golf has always been associated with the great outdoors. However, there has been a huge rise in popularity of people playing their golf indoors. Whether it’s a home golf simulator, maybe in a custom build garden room or a commercial simulator.
There are many advantages to playing indoor golf. Many people with increasingly busy lives struggle for free time and only need to find an hour or two vs a four hour round at a golf course.
Playing indoors in your own exclusive hitting bay, means you can play at your own pace without waiting for greens to clear or the pressure of groups behind playing up on you. You don’t need to shout FORE, the bad weather can’t get you and you can play a different course every week. All while sipping on a drink of your choice from the in-house bar...
So, are traditional golf courses right to be worried?
Of course not. Indoor golf shouldn’t be viewed as a replacement or challenge to traditional golf. The technology needs to be embraced as an opportunity to improve your own game and the wider golfing community.

Golf Practice
Being immersed in nature is a wonderful experience, but players who struggle to get out in the winter months can find their swing starts to suffer. Indoor golf practice gives you the chance to make gains on your game. Cutting edge data metrics can aid improvement faster than mindless ball blasting at the cold driving range.
I’ve never met anyone who thinks they will give up regular golf for purely indoor golf, but what about new golfers?
Beginner golfers
Indoor golf provides a safe and welcoming environment for beginners to get into golf. For most newcomers, approaching a club or teeing off on the first in front of the clubhouse or pro shop can be a very daunting experience.
Indoor golf allows players to build their confidence and skill making them much more likely to take the step of joining a club. Most indoor venues have good relationships with local clubs and can make the process easy and stress free.
Community
There is a growing indoor golfing community. Many indoor golf venues have regular league nights, competitions and events all of which are growing friendships and engagement with the game.

- Its fun
- It’s good for your game
- It keeps you playing year round
- It’s growing the game and making it more accessible
Indoor golf is certainly not going to replace traditional golf. Quite the opposite in my opinion.
