Choosing the right golf simulator software is one of the most important decisions when building an indoor setup. Two of the most popular options today are Awesome Golf and GSPro, but they serve very different purposes.
In our builds, this is one of the most common questions we get. The answer is not about which is “better”, but which is better for how you actually want to use your simulator.

Quick Overview
| Feature | Awesome Golf | GSPro |
|---|---|---|
| Main Focus | Practice and games | Realistic golf simulation |
| Ease of Use | Very simple | More complex |
| Graphics | Bright and stylised | Highly realistic |
| Course Play | Limited | Extensive library |
| Best For | Families and practice | Serious golfers |
Gameplay Experience
The biggest difference between these platforms is how they feel to use. Awesome Golf is fast, responsive and designed for instant play. You can be hitting shots within seconds.
GSPro is built around realism. Courses are detailed, ball physics are refined and the overall experience is closer to playing real golf.
For many golfers, this comes down to how they want to spend their time. If you want structured practice or quick sessions, Awesome Golf fits better. If you want full rounds and immersion, GSPro wins.

Practice vs Play
Awesome Golf is built around improving your game through repetition and structured challenges. It encourages short, focused sessions.
GSPro, on the other hand, is designed for playing rounds of golf. While it does offer practice features, they are not the main focus.
In real-world use, this makes a big difference. Most home users do not regularly play full rounds indoors. They practice more than they play.
Setup and Performance
From a setup perspective, Awesome Golf is easier to run. It works well on standard simulator PCs and does not require high-end graphics performance.
GSPro is more demanding. To get the best experience, you will need a more powerful PC and a properly optimised setup.
If you are still planning your build, our simulator build guide explains the hardware requirements in detail.
Social Use
This is where Awesome Golf clearly leads. Its games mode makes it ideal for groups, families and casual sessions.
GSPro can be used socially, but it is not designed for quick, fun interactions in the same way.
Which One Should You Choose
Choose Awesome Golf if you want:
- Simple, fast practice sessions
- Fun games for groups
- A family-friendly simulator
Choose GSPro if you want:
- Realistic golf course play
- Immersive simulation
- A more serious playing experience
In many setups, the best solution is actually both. We often see users run Awesome Golf for practice and GSPro for course play.
